The Department of Wildlife's Wetlands Division has begun supplementing rice grains to feed migrating birds in several wetlands in Kashmir due to the freezing temperatures and lack of relief from the chilly weather.


Millions of migrating birds from Siberia, China, Central Asia, and Europe spend each year in Kashmir's many wetlands.

The wildlife department has begun the process of feeding birds in Kashmir after cold weather across Kashmir for the past few days caused numerous wetlands, including Hokarsar Wetland in Srinagar, to start freezing. This dearth of food for these migratory birds led to this procedure.
