8 January AMPATI The South West Garo Wildlife Department and Border Security Force (BSF) officers stationed close to the Indo-Bangladesh border made a touching gesture by helping an elephant that had been reported to be on the edge of death stand up again.

According to accounts, the event happened on Saturday in Kalaichar, which borders Bangladesh.

According to Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Rupankar Marak, the elephant was in excruciating pain after unintentionally ingesting poison, presumably from the adjacent forest.

The 24 Battalion BSF troops found the elephant, which was in discomfort and on all fours, and then they informed the Wildlife department.

Then, both BSF and Forest Department officers made valiant attempts to bring the elephant back on its feet, but to no avail.

The antidote and saline were then administered into the elephant.

"One of our rangers and a team, including a doctor, were dispatched to the area as soon as we learned about the crisis. Things improved with the administration of an antidote and saline. By the evening, the elephant was able to get up again, and by night, it was walking, according to the DFO.
